Samarahan FA serious about developing football

March 7, 2010, Sunday

KUCHING: The Samarahan Football Association (SFA) showed they were serious about developing football in the Division when they introduced the Samarahan League and the Samarahan Cup at the beginning of the year.

SFA new president Haidel Heli who said this, pointed out that these local leagues were organised to help produce talented players for the state and the country.

“We are starting from scratch and we need help from the Football Association of Sarawak to achieve our goal,” he added.

Haidel was appointed Samarahan FA president to replace Paruwadi Musa at a special meeting yesterday.

Besides the Samarahan League and the Samarahan Cup, he said SFA was also planning to organise the Samarahan Inter-Division Futsal Cup.

And for this, he called on the football associations or divisional football clubs to give their support.

Haidel also hoped to form a football academy with the schools.

“We want to improve local football and the best way to do this is to use a school in Samarahan for the academy,” he said.

He hoped football fans in Samarahan would give their full support to make SFA’s development programme a success.

Haidel who will lead Samarahan FA for 2010-12, is confident the Division will continue to produce the best football team in the state after winning the Sarawak Cup in 2008.
